If you come out of duty
or want to explain

If you want to defend God
or make sense of my situation

If you want to entertain
or get me to smile

Please stay away
If you know why this happen
or want to regale me with stories of heaven

If you view silence as something to fill up with words
or have bible verses to share

If you can’t be with me in the moment
or are unable to enter my pain and my grief

Instead send a plant
and in your discretion
you will have saved us
much pain
